According to the US Constitution, the Senate is supposed to vote for the President's judicial nominees. So why, when and how do Judiciary Committees come into play?

Can President Bush make judicial appointments while Congress is in recess?

Can you compel the Judiciary Committee to allow a vote on a judicial nominee to go to the full Senate floor?

How can Senators Feinstein and Daschle make the kinds of statements they have with regard to President Bush's federal judiciary nominees?
