According to the US Constitution, the Senate is supposed to vote for the President's judicial nominees. So why, when and how do Judiciary Committees come into play?
Can President Bush make judicial appointments while Congress is in recess?
Can you compel the Judiciary Committee to allow a vote on a judicial nominee to go to the full Senate floor?
How can Senators Feinstein and Daschle make the kinds of statements they have with regard to President Bush's federal judiciary nominees?
I was thinking about the Constitutional requirement that judicial nominations, such as the one for Judge Pickering, go before the full Senate. Is there a way to go through the court system to make sure that the Senate gets these votes, rather than just the Judiciary Committee?
If candidates for local judgeships are not allowed to discuss their views on specific topics, how can Senators demand that candidates for a federal judgeship provide this information?
If the President has the right to choose judicial nominees, why does each nomination have to go to the floor for a vote?
If the Senate Judiciary Committee is such a roadblock to judicial confirmations, why can't the Committee be done away with?
If we elect our legislative and executive leaders, then why do we not also elect our judicial leaders?
Is it likely that the President will make recess appointments? Would it be possible for him to appoint a nominee that was rejected by the Senate Judiciary Committee?
Is there any way to remove the noncompliant members of the Senate Judiciary Committee in order to move the judicial confirmation process along?
Is there anything that can be done to prevent Supreme Court Justices from being appointed to life terms?
Is there anything we can do to speed up the process of confirming President Bush's nominees for Federal Court judge?
My senator is going to be in my home in a few days. Could you offer some advice on how to respectfully bring up the issue of the filibusters?
What can individuals do to ensure that good conservative judges are appointed to the courts?
