| I have a son with Down’s syndrome. Does it make sense for the government to be increasing funding to Planned Parenthood while they’re decreasing funding for my son’s therapy? |

Annette from Idaho says: I have a little boy with Down’s syndrome. Not only have they cut his hours in therapy because of funding, but they also are putting the parents now on a sliding fee scale. So not only do I work and pay into it, I’m going to have to pay extra now and extra at daycare for the hours that they cut. And I think the funding could be better spent, obviously. Instead, they’re cutting the funding to people who could really use these services. I just don’t know how it seems like everything got to be so backwards.
Jay answers: Yeah, and of course the difficulty here is that Planned Parenthood has a huge lobby. Now, we’re in federal court against Planned Parenthood on a funding issue right now. You’ve got this investigation in Alabama; there’s a congressional hearing this week on increasing funding for "family planning" services; and Annette, you’re talking about having funding for your child with Down’s syndrome cut. Folks, does this show you how this is backwards? And this is where we need everybody speaking out.
