It is those legislative proposals that are moving towards law, not the vague, high-level ideas that the President keeps referencing. And the further harsh reality is that those proposals absolutely do include an abortion mandate, federal funding of abortions, and numerous other measures that cause troubling government intrusion into your healthcare decisions.
That being said, the significant Democrat majorities in both the House and the Senate require that the opposition to this government-run healthcare be bipartisan. The first chamber to take a full vote is likely to be the House, where at least 38 Democrats (maybe more, depending on how Republicans vote) are needed to defeat the bill. Below you will find a list of 44 Democrats who are reported to have publicly stated that they oppose the bill. It is critical that we hold these elected Representatives to their word. If your Congressman is on this list, let him or her know that you will be paying attention to their vote. If your Congressman is not on this list, you should be asking why. If the month of August taught us anything, it was that the American People do not want government-run health care. We need to make sure our elected officials listened to that message.
