President Biden is putting politics above national security. His Administration might revoke the Foreign Terrorist Organization List label for the Houthis if the Iranian-backed terrorists stop attacking ships in the Red Sea. It looks like Biden just wants to play nice with Iran.

Bloomberg reports:

The US said it would consider revoking its recent designation of Yemen’s Houthis as terrorists if the Iran-backed militants cease their shipping attacks in and around the Red Sea.

“My hope is that we can find diplomatic off-ramps,” Tim Lenderking, President Joe Biden’s special envoy for Yemen, told reporters in an online press briefing on Wednesday. “To find ways to deescalate and allow us to pull back, eventually, the designation and of course to end the military strikes on Houthis’ military capability.”

The comments suggest Washington is once more leaning on diplomacy after a nearly three-month-long campaign of airstrikes against Houthi facilities in Yemen. Those have failed to stop the group’s missile and drone attacks against merchant vessels and warships, though the US says it has managed to degrade the Houthis’ military capabilities.

If you remember, the Trump Administration had labeled the Houthis as a terrorist organization. But in 2021, President Biden took them off the terrorist list. The ACLJ filed a FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) request demanding to know why the Administration made this dangerous decision. The Biden Admininstration didn’t respond, so we filed a lawsuit and are currently battling it out in court.

The Houthis began attacking cargo vessels in the Red Sea in November 2023, and the Biden Administration didn’t want to get involved.

In January 2024, President Biden had no choice but to respond to the Houthis’ attacks by launching an airstrike against the Houthis in Yemen and even rightly reverted back to President Trump’s policy of recognizing the Houthis as a terrorist organization.

But now the Biden Administration is considering the foolish decision to appease a terrorist organization by removing them – for a second time – from the terror list. They want to find “diplomatic off-ramps” to improve relations with a group that is causing chaos and destruction. It’s outrageous.

Should the U.S. have tried to find a way to improve diplomatic relations with Al-Qaeda after they attacked the World Trade Center in 2001? And clearly, the airstrikes that Biden delivered against the Houthis weren’t strong enough if cargo ships are still being attacked in the Red Sea.

Former Acting Director of National Intelligence Ric Grenell joined the broadcast to comment on the danger of the Houthis:

What [the Biden Administration is] saying is if the Houthis will pull back from Red Sea attacks, then they will remove them from the terrorist list. Really, what the Biden team is saying is, go do terrorism outside of the Red Sea, and then it will be none of our business. And that’s a dangerous message. Under the Trump Administration, we put the Houthis on the terrorist list for all their actions. They are destabilizing action in the region because the Iranians were giving them money and using them to attack Saudi Arabia. Don’t forget they’ve attacked the UAE under the Biden Administration. This has been an unbelievable move by the Houthis that has been unrestrained until they went into the Red Sea.

Remember when we had peace in the Middle East during the Trump Administration? Now the destabilization of the region continues as Iran wreaks havoc. And the Biden Administration is directly responsible for Iran’s recent funding.

Domestically, we have an update regarding the ACLJ’s efforts to preserve the free speech of pro-life counselors in Louisville, Kentucky. A federal court rejected the city’s attempt to dismiss our case defending pro-life advocates who were fighting an abortion buffer zone law outside a Louisville abortion clinic.

While the decision is an important victory for our clients, the case is still not over. As discussed here, we will soon ask the U.S. Supreme Court to take up our case against the abortion buffer zone law in Englewood, New Jersey, which is similar to Louisville’s law. We will keep you updated as our case moves forward.

Finally, I want to tell you what the ACLJ did in our fight to disqualify DA Fani Willis. Today we filed an amicus brief explaining why Willis shouldn’t continue as the prosecutor in President Trump’s Georgia case. Sign our petition to have your voice heard about the need to restore integrity to our justice system.

Today’s Sekulow broadcast included a full analysis of President Biden’s possible dangerous decision to remove the terrorist label from the Houthis. ACLJ Senior Counsel for Global Affairs Mike Pompeo reacted to the absurdity of Biden’s appeasement of terrorist organizations.
